The Spenderella’s Review on British Soccer Camp
This summer Avery attended the Challenger Sports – British Soccer Camps. She had so much fun running around chasing the ball, learning new games, meeting new friends and having a coach with an accent like Peppa Pig! Below I will highlight our review of the summer camp.
About Challenger Sports – British Soccer Camps are the most popular soccer camp in the US. With an innovative curriculum that develops skills, speed and confidence in players ages 3-18, The British Soccer Camp provide boys and girls with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international expert’s right in the heart of their own community. In addition to teaching new skills and improving game performance, each British Soccer Camp provides lessons in character development, cultural education and is the most fun your child can have learning the sport they love!
The first day I dropped Avery off for her Challenger Sports – British Soccer Camp and hearing the coaches talk, she turned and whispered to me “they talk like Peppa Pig”. Her coach, Coach Tommy, is from Scotland. The mere mention of Peppa Pig made this mommy feel as if I found the perfect camp for her since Avery loves Peppa Pig!
On the way home every day after camp I would ask her how she liked camp, what was her favorite thing she did etc. Overwhelmingly she was a huge fan of soccer and this was only her first time ever playing. Her favorite thing was called Chasing the Giant. This is where all the kids would chase the coach around. The Challenger Sports – British Soccer Camp class was one hour long and very cute. Perfect for tots and pre-k. For the one hour I sat in the bleachers and watched. In the one hour soccer camp I felt they learned so much. Plus Coach Tommy was very patient with the kids. On day five of the camp, they played a little scrimmage which was adorable to see how they were able to connect the little games they have been learning throughout the week together for a mini game. I spotted Avery as the goalie one time and she actually threw herself on the ball and held on to the ball with all her might. I was so proud of her being able to connect what she was taught on previous days to what should be happening.
At the end of the final day, the coach gathered all the kids and handed out handwritten certificates and a t-shirt. The Challenger Sports – British Soccer Camps has to be one of my favorite summer camps she has attended so far. As I was posting pictures on my personal facebook page a few friends from across the United States commented they have had their children attend the same camp and love it. I love that in combination of playing and learning a sport they are also introduced to a new culture.
Avery is already asking when we can enroll her in soccer so she can play again. Now I am determined to find something as great as The Challenger Sports Summer Camp during the school year. I did learn that we will need soccer cleats in the near future and having a car wash after soccer practice is mandatory due to the amount of grass clippings that was inside the car.
