Valentine’s Day Heart Shaped Pizza Recipe
A heart shape pizza alone brings a smile to everyone and this from scratch homemade recipe will definitely wow your Valentine. The recipe is kid friendly as well so perfect for a family style Valentine’s Meal. Perfect recipe to celebrate Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Anniversaries, Birthday’s and more!
Pizza Dough:
2 1/2 cups flour
1 package or 2 1/4 teaspoons of yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons Olive Oil
1 cup warm water
Pizza Toppings:
Pizza Sauce
Mozzarella cheese
Pepperoni
(Optional) Garlic Butter:
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon Tuscan seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic salt
Directions:
First, make the dough. Mix all dry ingredients well in a bowl, then add olive oil and warm water. Mix until dough forms a ball and is not overly sticky. If the dough is too sticky or too dry add either flour or water a little at a time until consistency is correct. Cover and set aside for 20 minutes to let the dough rise.
Heat the oven to 450 degrees. If you have a pizza stone, this is a good time to put it into the oven to pre-heat it. Although not required, pre-heating your pizza stone will ensure your crust is nice and crispy.
Next, gather all the desired toppings and prep your work area. We used parchment paper coated with corn meal and a little flour. Once the dough is ready, roll out it out to about 1/8 inch thick. Next, use a knife to draw the heart onto the dough then use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into a heart. We rolled the trimmed dough out to form a ring around the heart but you could use it to make a yummy side of breadsticks!
Now the fun part! Spread the pizza sauce onto the heart shaped dough and top with your desired toppings. We kept it simple and only used mozzarella and pepperoni. Don’t mind my child in the picture below, she believes when she makes pizza she does ones handful of cheese on the pizza and the next handful of cheese goes in her mouth to eat!
Place the pizza onto the pre-heated pizza stone and bake for 10-14 minutes depending on how well-done you like your pizza. We baked ours for 12 minutes and let it cool on the stove for about 15 minutes and it turned out great!
Optional Yummy step:
Blend the dry ingredients for the garlic butter together then mix with the 3 tablespoons of melted butter. Next, either brush the garlic butter on the entire pizza and the crust or use it for dipping at the table.
Last step, enjoy your heart shaped pizza!
